About a month ago I tried a recipe for sourdough discard soft pretzels. Don't get me wrong, they were very good, but I felt like they could have been better. So, I went digging and found another recipe to try.

This new recipe came from a blog called Sally's Baking Addiction. Check out the recipe HERE. I found this to be a pretty easy recipe to follow. I did notice that I had to cook mine a little longer and they still didn't get as dark as the pictures in the recipe. Turns out, I did not have my oven set at the correct temperature. The recipe states to cook it at 400F for 12 - 15 minutes. I accidentally only set my oven to 350F. Oops.
There are only minor differences between the first and second recipes. To summarize, the new recipe...
has just a little less yeast
less salt
used less and different sweetener
contains a little butter
has more baking soda in the boiling water
has no sugar in the boiling water
did not use an egg wash
These pretzels were really good. I did like this recipe better than the first. I will make them again...and hopefully, I will bake them correctly next time!! :-P
