I wanted to make some fun Halloween treats, but nothing sweet. After some Pinterest surfing, I found this idea for Mummy Jalapeño Poppers.

The original recipe called for Pillsbury Crescent rolls which I can only guess contain a bunch of preservatives. This led me to dig out the recipe I used to make the Roasted Vegetable Cornucopia. This was a recipe for breadstick dough. You only need a small amount of dough, so bake up the rest as breadsticks and freeze them. Or, go ahead and use the crescent rolls. There is no shame in it. However, if you do have the time, give homemade a try, they're delicious!

The Breadstick Recipe
This is the recipe from a previous blog post. You only need a small amount of the dough. Roll it out thin and use a pizza cutter to create think strips to wrap your mummy.
Ingredients
2 cup warm water
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp instant yeast
1/2 cup oil
2 tsp salt
6 cups flour, plus extra for rolling out
Directions
In a stand mixer with the dough hook attached, combine water, sugar, and yeast. Mix and allow to sit for about 10 minutes to allow the yeast to wake up and get a bite to eat.
Add oil, salt, and flour while the mixer is running at low to medium speed. Scrape the bowl at least once.
Remove the dough to a flour-covered work surface and knead with a little additional flour.
Place dough in an oiled bowl and allow to rise until doubled in size.
Use a small piece of dough to create the mummy strips.

Directions
Mix the cheese mixture.
Cut and deseed the peppers.
Fill each pepper half with the cheese mixture.
Wrap a strip of dough around the pepper, leaving space for the eyes.
